Will my child be doing military style push ups and boot camp exercises? Will you be pushing your child to the point of complete exhaustion? Nope because that's not fun! We will be working hard using light free weights, doing cardio activities, talking about healthy eating, sizzling up a few healthy treats in the kitchen studio, and taking a trip or two to the grocery store to talk about what's healthy to eat and what isn't. We will work together as a group to achieve our individual goals, which your child will track. Each child will be given a workbook to bring to each session. In each session, we will use our workbooks to track our goals, progress and physical activity that we have completed throughout the week.
My child is not overweight. Can you still help them with becoming more physically active and nutrition? Yes! Our program is designed as an overall approach to being physically fit. Our goal is ultimately designed for children to maintain life-long health, not weight loss. By being physically active and making healthy food choices, overweight children will often lose weight by introducing such positive changes to their bodies.
Do you offer one-on-one personal training sessions for children? And adults? Yes, please visit our Personal Training page for more information. Susan Caldwell, who designed and is managing Hi 5 Fitness, is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Personal Trainer and has worked with dozens of clients up to age 87! She is the mother of two children under the age of six, one of whom has a special disability. Susan was one of twelve inspiring stories in January 2008's People Magazine's "Half Their Size" issue. She can tailor a program to meet your needs or the needs of your child in an individual setting. To learn more about Susan, please visit her website at www.SusanCaldwell.com.
What food plan do you recommend for my child? We are working with a licensed dietitian to develop a well rounded food plan, but you can visit the FDA's food pyramid website for a healthy approach to eating. Their website is http://www.mypyramid.gov/KIDS/. This free website offers lots of information on making well balanced food selections as well as meal tracking for free. We are happy to set up an appointment for you for a consultation with our dietitian. There would be an additional fee should you decide to work with our dietitian to develop an individualized food plan.
Can you track my child's weight from week-to-week? Yes. Just let us know and we will weigh your child and record it in their workbook each week.
Your schedule does not fit my child's schedule. Can you offer more session times? We are working on adding more classes at different times to our schedule. If there is a specific time for which you are looking, please send us an email and let us know.
How can I help my child at home? We can help your child stay physically active and learn a healthy approach to eating at Hi 5 Fitness, but you are their biggest cheerleader and example! As your child's at-home coach, encourage your child's movement and exercise by becoming more active yourself! Create a new lifestyle that includes weekend outings such as hiking (there are LOTS of great walking trails in the area), biking, swimming and skiing... any thing that encourages physical activity. Invite friends and family who also enjoy being active.
Do you offer online payment options? We do not currently offer online payment options at this time. If you wish to pay by credit card, please call us and we are happy to complete it for you and can immediately email you a receipt.
What credit cards do you accept? Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. We are also happy to accept personal checks or cash. Just call us and we can email you a receipt immediately.
Is there an expiration date for sessions? A child may use the sessions within 60 days.
Do you offer gift certificates? Yes, please call us at 919-900-7569 or email us at info@Hi5Fitness.com.
How should my child dress for Hi 5? We do request tennis shoes and comfortable clothing! The staff of Hi 5 will wear long gym pants or long khaki pants with Hi 5 Fitness shirts. We do not wear spaghetti straps, cut off pants, or tight fitting clothes.
Do you have a question that was not listed? Send us an email and we will promptly respond!
